Nerve Calm Herbal Formula Tincture

Ingredients: Licorice, Sage, Kava Kava, Pau D'Arco, Passion Flower, Chaparrel, Lobelia, Ionized water, 30% alcohol

 

Herb:  CHAPARRAL LEAF

Botanical name:  Larrea mexicana/tridentata

Origin:  Mexico

Therapeutic actions:  Anti-microbial; Antioxidant; Alterative; Anti-venomous; Astringent; Anti-arthritic; Anti-rheumatic; Anti-scrofulous; Anti-inflammatory; Expectorant; Odontalgic; Diuretic (lithotriptic); Tonic; Depurative; Emetic (large doses).

Description:  It is a great blood purifier. It tones the system and peristaltic muscles in the lower bowel and rebuilds the tissue.

Botanical name:  Glycyrrhiza glabra

Origin:  Egypt/China

Therapeutic actions:  Demulcent; Expectorant; Emollient; Pectoral; Aperient; Stimulant; Sialagogue.

Nutrients:  Biotin, calcium, choline, iron, lecithin, magnesium, manganese, pantothenic acid, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, silicon, zinc, vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, C and E.

Drug interactions:  Interacts with Digoxin, loop diuretics, Thiazide diuretics. Supports those taking Aspirin, Etodolac, Ibuprofen, Interferon, Isoniazid, Nabumetone, Naproxen and topical corticosteroids.

Description:  This herb is one of the favorites in Chinese herbal medicine. It has general effects on the whole body.

Internal uses:  Its stimulating action helps to counteract stress, and supplies energy to the body, making it especially useful for those recovering from illness. Licorice works with the lungs, stomach, intestines, spleen, liver and adrenals. It is taken internally in the treatment of Addison's disease, asthma, bronchitis, coughs, peptic ulcer, arthritis, allergic complaints and following steroidal therapy. Contains substances similar to the adrenal cortical hormones and has an estrogenic effect; therefore, it is an important herb for treating adrenal insufficiency, other glandular problems and female disorders. Other uses: adrenal exhaustion, age spots, arteriosclerosis, as a blood cleanser, detoxifier, purifier, adjust blood salts, balances blood sugar, cancer, circulation, colds, constipation, coughs, Cushings' disease, dropsy, drug withdrawal, emphysema, endurance, energy, female complaints, fevers, flu, heart strengthener, hoarseness, hypoglycemia, to increase the effectiveness of adrenal hormone glucocorticoids in liver, impotency, liver protector, all lung problems, to heal and protect mucus membranes, nausea, to induce ovulation, Parkinson's disease, pituitary, and Crohn’s disease.

Botanical name:  Lobelia inflata

Origin:  USA/India

Therapeutic actions:  Antispasmodic; Anti-venomous; Astringent; Cathartic; Counter-irritant; Diaphoretic; Diuretic; Emetic; Expectorant; Emmenagogue; Nauseant; Nervine; Relaxant; Stimulant.

Nutrients:  Calcium, choline, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, silicon, zinc, vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B12 and C.

Drug interactions:  Check with physician if on nicotine alternatives.

Description:  Lobelia is commonly used both externally and internally to relax all spasms.  

 

Herb:  KAVA KAVA ROOT

Botanical name:  Piper methysticum

Origin:  Vanuatu

Therapeutic actions:  Antiseptic; Analgesic; Anti-inflammatory; Nervine.

Drug interactions:  Interacts with Alprazolam, Buspirone.

Description:  Use for pain associated with nerve or skin diseases.

Internal uses:  It relieves stress after injuries. The plant works by first stimulating the nervous system, and depresses it, so it is very beneficial for anxiety, insomnia and stress. Works well with Valerian. It is also useful for cystitis, and prostatitis, in the treatment of rheumatism, gout, and Parkinson’s.

 

Herb:  PASSION FLOWER

Botanical name: Passiflora incarnata

Origin:  India

Therapeutic actions:  Antispasmodic; Astringent; Diaphoretic; Hypnotic; Narcotic; Sedative; Vasodilator.

Nutrients:  Amino acids, calcium, vitamins A and C.

Drug Interactions: No known Drug Interactions.

Description:  A powerful relaxant to the nervous system and is important in the treatments of anxiety, tension, insomnia and for those coming off of synthetic tranquilizers and sleeping pills.

Internal uses:  It has been used to help lower high blood pressure, to treat children for hyperactivity, convulsions and hysteria. It has also been used for eye irritations, inflamed eyes, dimness of vision and eye tension. Other uses: irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), pre-menstrual tension and vaginal discharges.

 

Herb:  PAU D'ARCO BARK 

Botanical name:  Tabebuia heptaphylla

Origin:  Brazil

Therapeutic actions:  Anti-bacterial; Blood purifier; Immuno-stimulant.

Nutrients:  Beta-carotene, calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, zinc, vitamins A, B1, B2, B3 and C.

Origin:  Albania/Croatia

Description:  It is known to stimulate the nervous system and the digestive tract. It is also considered a memory strengthener.

Internal uses:  Sage has been beneficial for excessive lactation, night sweats, excessive salivation (as in Parkinson's disease), profuse perspiration (as in TB), anxiety, depression, female sterility and menopausal problems.  Other uses:  baldness, coughs, diabetes, nausea, nervous conditions, voice loss and expelling worms. Also been used in the treatment of loss of appetite, excessive perspiration and halitosis.
